The first Hello World program appeared in 1972, in a book about B programming language by Brian Kernighan. B was a precursor to the C programming language The program became famous when it was included in the book ‘The C Programming Language’ in 1978 by Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie. Nearly 50 years ago they highlighted this timeless principle - the only way to learn a new programming language is by writing programs in it - this advice is still relevant today.
